Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Psalm 119:97-112 from the daily reading in the One Year Bible

O how I love Your law!
It is my meditation all the day.
98 Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies,
For they are ever mine.
99 I have more insight than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my meditation.
100 I understand more than the aged,
Because I have observed Your precepts.
101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way,
That I may keep Your word.
102 I have not turned aside from Your ordinances,
For You Yourself have taught me.
103 How sweet are Your words to my taste!
Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 From Your precepts I get understanding;
Therefore I hate every false way.

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
106 I have sworn and I will confirm it,
That I will keep Your righteous ordinances.
107 I am exceedingly afflicted; Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word.
108 O accept the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord,
And teach me Your ordinances.
109 My life is continually in my hand,
Yet I do not forget Your law.
110 The wicked have laid a snare for me,
Yet I have not gone astray from Your precepts.
111 I have inherited Your testimonies forever,
For they are the joy of my heart.
112 I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes
Forever, even to the end.

These are certainly dark and uncertain times we live in. It is difficult to know who we can trust and who will give us truth and accurate information so that we can know what is the right thing to do. Many of the reports that those in the media provide only tell a portion of truth. They manipulate statistics and words; they edit film to suit their own agenda. Every form of media, whether extreme left, extreme right or anywhere in between, has and serves an agenda; mostly based in profit and power.  There is though one reliable source. The psalmist says:  How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.  Unlike the majority of things we see or hear in the media, which lead to confusion, God’s word gives us clarity and understanding. When we know truth, it becomes easy to discern what is a lie. John 1:1-5;14 says:  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.  In John 8:12 Jesus says:  “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”   Jesus is the word of God made flesh. He is the living revelation of God’s word and His will. Jesus and the word will illuminate the way we should go. If we will walk with Him, we will not walk in darkness or uncertainty.

The psalmist says:  O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.
Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, For they are ever mine.  I have more insight than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, Because I have observed Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word.  I have not turned aside from Your ordinances, For You Yourself have taught me.
A person does not need to be a Biblical scholar to understand God’s word and His commandments.  In John 14:26-27, in the Amplified translation, Jesus says:  The Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.  Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.  The Holy Spirit is the best teacher we can have. He serves no agenda but the will of God. In these uncertain times, fear and anxiety are at all time highs. The pharmaceutical industry is making billions of dollars of profit from stress, anxiety, fear and panic.  There is a better prescription though, only the God of peace can give us perfect peace.

The psalmist says:  I am exceedingly afflicted; Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word.  O accept the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord, And teach me Your ordinances. My life is continually in my hand, Yet I do not forget Your law.  The wicked have laid a snare for me, Yet I have not gone astray from Your precepts.  I have inherited Your testimonies forever,
For they are the joy of my heart. I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes Forever, even to the end.
In John 12:25;30-31 Jesus says:  “Which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span? If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters? For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.”  Like the psalmist, we may be exceedingly afflicted. In John 16:33 Jesus says:  “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”   In Matthew 24:13 He says:  “He who endures to the end shall be saved.”  Romans 8:35-39 says:  Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Amen. Thank You heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ and precious Holy Spirit. How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. I have sworn and I will confirm it, That I will keep Your righteous ordinances.  Amen.
